The Hydrowarm
The LB9 Hydrowarm perfectly bridges the gap between paddling in a cag, and in a rash guard.
Made of a water repellent outer shell and a thermal lining, the Hydrowarm provides protection and insulation from cold waters. The fabric also stretches to give a form-fitting finish, including comfortable wrist and neck contact, and freedom of movement.
A staple for marathon or canoe polo training in the spring and autumn seasons, the LB9 Hydrowarm is available with both long and short sleeves.
LB9 have a selection of two styles of rashguard available, the core rashguard, or the compression rashguard, both available with either long or short sleeves.
The core rashguard is a great baselayer, with comfortable and soft fit, and providing UV protection, perfect for long days on the water. This high quality, along with the range of colours available makes it a firm favourite with flat water paddlers.
However, our top pick for polo, and with many other athletes, is the LB9 compression rashguard. Designed for hard work, the compression rashguard has mesh inserts in high sweat areas for breathability, and compression bands around the forearms to aid circulation. The compression rashguard also features cross-taping across the wearer’s back, to provide muscular support. Somehow, the LB9 provides all of this, without compromising comfort.
Canoe polo essentials
We also wanted to highlight some of the other canoe polo essentials offered by LB9:
The LB9 shooter sleeves have 9mm of impact absorption padding in the elbow, and in our experience, causes no reduction in mobility. The shooter sleeves also make use of cross-taping to support the elbow and forearm throughout motion, and provides the same comfortable fit of the rest of the LB9 range.
The polo spraydeck that LB9 offer has been redesigned, and there’s been a lot of updates. The deck features a reinforcing protection layer around the edge of the deck - something seen in a lot of whitewater deck design for durability, but which has remained evasive in polo deck designs. The deck also features a latex coating inside to avoid slipping, and the braces have silicone anti-slip piping. It seems that, in every aspect, this deck has been redesigned for uncompromised performance. We have not had a chance to put this particular bit of kit to the test just yet, but it’s high on our list.
LB9 have also introduced a number of accessories to their line, our favourite being the waterproof drybag which has a standard roll top closure, but also a waterproof front zipper pocket for easy access to key items. It is in these small details where it becomes clear that LB9 is designed by paddlers, for paddlers.
